HISTORY

The corner house of the Wurmova Street is a part of the eastern urban area of the Olomouc historical heart, called Předhradí. It is most likely located on the place of the former county court.

This place is first mentioned at the beginning of the 13th century; the house itself in 1522. In 1617 it was sold and became a vicar house. Since that time it belonged to the clergy.

The building is mostly baroque, but the present appearance dates back to the 19th century; it is on the List of protected national monuments.

NOWADAYS

We are very fond of history and therefore we made sure that all the apartments and also common areas are filled with it. Thanks to the last sensitive reconstruction which has returned many antique components to the house, we are able to step back in time. Although all the interiors are not necessarily furnished in one genuine style, we tried to approximate the atmosphere of a burgher house from the turn of the 19th and 20th century.

We are equipped with fully renovated antique furniture, many original period pieces of art and stylish accessories including carpets, which contribute to the distinctive atmosphere. It is also possible that you can buy any piece of the furniture or any piece of art that you get to like. The antique shop ATR INTERIER TEICHMANN ltd. will replace the item with another antique piece of furniture.

There are original baroque ceilings in most rooms, including bathrooms. The wooden floors are covered with original hand made Persian carpets. Also the wooden staircase leading to first floor is completely renovated.

Modern technical equipment of our B&B includes a satellite TV set with approximately 500 channels from all around the world, WI-FI, and after prior arrangement also a telephone. Hair dryers and small hygienic service is included. All apartments have minibars, kettles, toasters and other basic kitchen equipment. Secure parking place is available within 50 metres from the B&B.

Duvets and pillows are filled with anti-allergic antibacterial filling. Cleaning and laundry service is done according to the EU standards.

You will have a view of the neo-gothic St. Wenceslas cathedral from almost all of the windows. The cathedral is an absolutely dominant feature of the city. In 2006 the newly renovated Archbishop museum was opened opposite the cathedral.

It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the city centre (Town Hall, Holy Trinity Column, many fountains...). There is also one of the beautiful city parks near the B&B.

While planning a visit to Olomouc we recommend visiting these websites: www.olomouc.cz, www.olomouc.eu, www.olomouc.com and also www.olomouc-tourism.cz, where you can find information about current activities, such as Olomouc Cultural Summer festival, Flora flower exhibitions, music festivals, etc. It will help you to prepare your visit. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the town and hope that you will gain unusual experience.
